Radiology: (Periapical X-rays, OPG X-rays & CBCT Scans)
Radiology in dentistry refers to the use of imaging techniques to diagnose and plan treatment for dental and maxillofacial conditions. It involves capturing detailed images of teeth, jaws, and surrounding structures to detect abnormalities, infections, fractures, and other issues.

Key Types of Dental Radiology:

  • Periapical X-rays: These are small, focused X-rays that show the entire tooth from the crown to the root tip and surrounding bone. They help detect tooth decay, abscesses, cysts, and bone loss near the tooth root.
  • OPG X-rays (Orthopantomogram): A panoramic X-ray that captures the entire mouth in a single image, including all teeth, upper and lower jaws, sinuses, and jaw joints. It’s useful for assessing overall dental health, planning orthodontics, and detecting impacted teeth or jaw problems.
  • CBCT Scans (Cone Beam Computed Tomography): A 3D imaging technique providing detailed cross-sectional views of teeth, bone, nerves, and soft tissues. CBCT is valuable for complex diagnoses, implant planning, orthodontics, and evaluating bone structure in three dimensions.

These radiographic tools allow dentists to accurately diagnose conditions, plan treatments, and monitor progress while minimizing invasive procedures.
